Hi! I am currently a 1st-year PhD student at College of Engineering & Computer Science and VinUni-Illinois Smart Healthcare Center, VinUniversity where I conduct research in AIxHealthcare fields. I got B.Eng. at VNU-HCM University of Technology, and M.Eng. at Ritsumeikan University.

Previously, I spent 1.5 years at Danish startup HĀTO to develop AI-based cardiac diagnostics, followed by a year at VNU HCMIU to conduct Brain Computer Interface research on Vietnamese cohorts.

Research Interests

My current study focus on developing efficient multimodal AI framework for digital phenotype monitoring and assessment of some common neurological and mental health diseases, with a target on low-resource deployment setting.

I'm also interested in human-based biosignal experiments and analysis associated to different sub-domain studies in neurology, cardiology, and digital remote monitoring.

  • [08/2025] We have sucessfully secured 60,000 USD grant from the Neuroscience Capacity Accelerator For Mental Health (NCAMH) 2025 funded by IBRO x Wellcome. I will serve as the Technical Lead and Project Coordinator for this study initiative on mental health interventions in Vietnam. [Read more].
  • [07/2025] I conduct a short-term visiting research @ School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham (UK).
  • [04/2025] I launched NEURAI project as a Technical Lead, collaborating with VNU HCMIU, RMIT Vietnam, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, and Menthy Clinics. We developed a mobile platform for multimodal digital phenotypes acquisition and collect a large-scale dataset on Vietnamese mental health patients. [ ]
  • [01/2025] I was awarded 3500 USD travel grant from IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS).
  • [08/2024] I started the CS PhD program @ VinUniversity, advised by Dr. Hieu Pham, and Dr. Huong Ha under fully-funded fellowship by VISHC. My project is: "Developing a unified, low-cost, self-care mobile health application for common disease screening and early detection in low-and middle-income countries" [Read more].
  • [11/2023] I started working @ School of Biomedical Engineering, VNU HCMIU, as a Technical Lead for the BCI Mouse Control project, funded by Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology (KC-4.0-07/19-25).
  • [09/2023] I succesfully defensed my M.E. thesis: "Remote Photoplethysmography Assessment Using Deep Learning" @ GSISE, Ritsumeikan University (Chair: Dr. Ruck Thawonmas).
  • [08/2022] I was awarded 2nd prize in Kyoto Startup Weekend Competition; sponsored by KYOTO Design Lab x Techstars.
  • [06/2022] I joined Scadinavian startup HĀTO x Black VC as a part-time researcher, worked in the multidisciplinary field of cardiology diangostisc analysis, bio-signal processing, database management and AI .
  • [09/2021] I started M.E. course @ Graduate School of Information Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University (Japan) with the fully-funded Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship by the Japanese Gonvernment.
