I am currently a graduate student at Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; and an affliated student at CECS x VISHC, VinUniversity where I conduct research in AIxHealthcare fields. I got B.Eng. at VNU-HCM University of Technology, and M.Eng. at Ritsumeikan University.

Research Interests

I have a strong interest in data-driven healthcare research integrating signal processing and machine learning, with a focus on developing efficient AI for biomedical applications.

Current Research Focus: Digital phenotyping, AI for mental health, multimodal biosignal analysis, biomedical signal processing, and development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).

  • [09/2026] I will join Speech Technology Group, led by Prof. Mark Hasegawa-Johnson. I will work on the biosignal processing and machine learning models using data from the LittleBeats project, funded by NIH.
  • [08/2026] I started M.S. course @ ECE, UIUC, under the fully funded the Vingroup Science and Technology Scholarship Program for Overseas Study; by Vingroup.
  • [04/2026] I will attend the Complexity in Mental Health Workshop (Sicily, Italy) to learn and share my ongoing research, with a travel grant awarded by IBRO.
  • [03/2026] Our team at VinUniversity has secured a place among the Top 30 of the QVIC 2026 program; by Qualcomm.
  • [08/2025] We have sucessfully secured 60,000 USD grant from the NCAMH 2025, funded by IBRO x Wellcome. I will serve as the Technical Lead for this study initiative on mental health interventions in Vietnam. [Read more].
  • [07/2025] I conduct a visiting @ School of Computer Science, University of Birmingham (UK), to conduct short-term research discussion on speech mental health, advised by Dr. Melanie Jouaiti.
  • [04/2025] I launched NEURAI project (funded by VISHC, VinUniversity) as a Technical Lead. We developed a mobile platform for multimodal digital phenotypes acquisition and collect a dataset on Vietnamese mental health patients. [ Facebook page ]
  • [01/2025] I was awarded 3500 USD travel grant from IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS).
  • [08/2024] I received fully-funded fellowship by VISHC, VinUniversity to conduct the CS PhD project about digital mental health application (PIs: Dr. Hieu Pham, Dr. Huong Ha) [Website]
  • [11/2023] I started working @ VNU-HCMC International University, served as a Technical Lead for part of the project, funded by Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology (KC-4.0-07/19-25).
  • [09/2023] I succesfully defensed my dissertation: "Remote Photoplethysmography Assessment Using Deep Learning" @ GSISE, Ritsumeikan University (Chair: Dr. Ruck Thawonmas).
  • [08/2022] I was awarded 2nd prize in Kyoto Startup Weekend Competition; by KYOTO Design Lab x Techstars.
  • [06/2022] I joined Scadinavian startup HĀTO x Black VC as a part-time engineer, worked in the field of cardiology-based bio-signal processing and machine learning .
  • [09/2021] I started M.E. training course @ GSISE, Ritsumeikan University (Japan) with the fully-funded MEXT Scholarship by the Japanese Gonvernment.
